Sustainability Policy
Our commitment to the future of our planet.
1. Responsible Sourcing
At Leforest, we prioritize the use of wood from sustainably managed forests. We actively seek suppliers with FSC® and PEFC certifications to ensure traceability and responsible forestry practices.
2. Chemical-Free Preservation
Our signature Shou Sugi Ban (charred wood) process uses a natural heat-treatment to preserve wood without toxic chemicals. This eliminates the need for polluting preservatives and ensures a safe end-of-life for our materials.
3. Championing Modified Woods
We lead with high-performance modified woods like Accoya® and Kebony®. These technologies transform fast-growing, sustainable softwoods into materials that outperform tropical hardwoods, directly reducing the demand for endangered rainforest species.
4. Circular Timber Economy
Our reclaimed wood collections give new life to timber from historic structures. By salvaging these materials, we promote a circular economy and keep carbon safely stored in high-value architectural elements rather than landfills.
5. Eco-Friendly Finishes
Every sealant and oil we apply is chosen for its minimal environmental impact. We exclusively use Low-VOC and water-based finishes, ensuring our products are safe for both indoor air quality and the natural ecosystems they eventually return to.
